Participants can come for any amount of time--you can go as you need to and stay as long as you like. The Woman's Center, a crisis pregnancy center about a block away, will be available if anyone needs to take a break; it also has a chapel available for prayer.
Lake County Right to Life has captains assigned for 2 hour periods. We still need captains for the periods from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. and 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Please contact us if you would like to participate or if you would like to volunteer to be a captain.
What is 40 days for Life?
40 Days for Life is a non-denominational, peaceful, non-confrontational approach to showing local communities the consequences of abortion for their own neighborhoods, friends and families. The program consists of prayer and fasting, constant vigil, and community outreach.
40 Days for Life began as a local outreach in Texas in 2004, going national in 2007. Since then, 400,000 pro-lifers have participated. Over 4300 lives have been saved, 53 workers have left the abortion industry and 14 abortion facilities have been shut down following the campaigns. This year, there will be outreaches in 297 locationsthroughout the United States.
The most visible component of 40 Days for Life is a constant prayer vigil outside a place where children are aborted. The plan is for the vigil to be maintained 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the forty days. During the outreach, the pro-life message is taken into the community through educational efforts. These efforts can include distribution of informational flyers, door-to-door petitions, churchinvolvement, media contact and campus outreach.
We hope you will participate with us in 40 Days for Life. Please talk to your friends and invite them to join us, too!
